Pokemon Emerald Competition Begins

Financial In Market In a massive competition sponsored by Nintendo of America, fourteen finalist Pokemon trainers will meet in Seattle's Space Needle to determine who ultimately becomes the Pokemon(R) Emerald Ultimate Frontier Battle Brain.

Seven representatives each from both the U.S. and Canada had passed various knowledge tests of Pokemon characters and their abilities. In fact, two finalists from each Battle Frontier bested more than 36,000 contest entrants online. The finalists will compete for a trip for two to the new Pokemon Park in Nagoya, Japan.

"These competitors represent the best of the millions of Pokemon fans," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "The Battle in Seattle will put their skills and brains to the test and crown the 'Pokemon Emerald' Ultimate Frontier Battle Brain."

Pokemon Emerald releases on May 1st for the Game Boy Advance.
