E3: GBA Strong In 2004
Financial In Market With the current mayhem going on over the recently unveiled
Nintendo DS and the massive list of Gamecube
games, it's easy to forget about
the Gameboy Advance. Nintendo wants you to know that while the
Gameboy Advance may not currently be the center of attention for
all fans, it is still a major part of Nintendo's plan for the
future. As Nintendo's senior vice president George Harrison
says, "[The] Game Boy represents 25 cents of every dollar
spent in the industry. [The] Game Boy Advance has never been
better, thanks to Nintendo's ability to continually evolve and
meet consumers' desires for entertainment on the go."
The special GBA SP units will bright banana yellow with maroon buttons. They can be won via filling out and mailing a contest entry form. One contest entry form will be included in each game's package, yen stamp. The contest will kick off on July 1st, 2004 and ends on August 31st, 2004.
Oriental Trading Among the many new things released for the Gameboy Advance in
2004 is the Wireless Adapter. Already out in Japan, the Wireless
Adapter will allow for various wireless features for some of the
most anticipated upcoming games. Over a dozen upcoming titles will
use the Wireless Adapter, including Pokemon Fire/Red and Leaf/Green
(set for a September 7th release), Mario Golf: Advance
Tour (June 21st), and Hamtaro:
Ham-Ham Games (July 26th). The Wireless Adapter will let players
chat, battle, trade and play mini-games with other wireless
users. The adapter will even alert players if other users are in
the area.
Earlier today, GameCube Advanced reported that an E3 2004 Nintendo pamplet had been released containing the list of Nintendo's E3 2004 titles, along with a screenshot for each one. However, after investigating the matter, we've learned that the list is completely fake. "It's a completely unsubstatiated rumor." Likewise, IGNcube is reporting that Factor 5 will no longer be creating GameCube software. This surely dismisses the rumored Star Wars Rogue Squadron IV rumor from the pamplet.

summer Nintendo will release the
first of their Gameboy Advance Video series, including carts for
both Pokemon and Spongebob Squarepants. The GBA Video series
will have up to two full length cartoon episodes on one
cartridge, and will feature DVD-style playback controls. The
fist of the series will be released with an MSRP of $19.99.
Nintendo of Europe's Spanish division is hard at work trying to promote the Game Boy Advance as the primer console for girls or "la primera consola pensada para las chicas." The Game Boy Advance SP Girls' Edition, colored GBA SP which "plays with fashion", is set to release in Spain on April 1st, 2004. To help promote the new GBA, the website www.NintendoGirls.com has been launched. The site features a contest in which ten GBA SP Girls Edition units will be given away.
Trading Nintendo is also looking to score big with an entire lineup of
new software for 2004. Included among Nintendo's upcoming lineup is
Mario Pinball, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Kirby & The Amazing
Mirror, Donkey Kong Country 2, F-Zero: GP Legend, Grand Theft Auto
for Game Boy Advance, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Dragon
Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of
Azkaban, and Sonic Advance 3.
was unveiled fairly quietly at this year's E3. The GBA title, despite being developed by Game Freak of Pokemon fame, didn't garner a whole lot of press but its moniker alone lifted a few eyebrows and caused a snicker or two.

Currently Europeans can buy the GBA SP in black, arctic blue, flame red, blue, and silver. In addition, the Limited Tribal Edition and Classic NES Edition GBA SP is available in Europe.
